Fall Musical 2024

Thursday, Friday, & Saturday, November 14, 15, & 16th, 2024 at 7 PM

To Everyone Who Auditioned and applied for backstage crew-

This is when it is most difficult to be a director; when the talent at the auditions is more than you are able to contain in a single show. It is staggering how impressive Mitchell students are, how prepared, and how driven.

We want to thank each and every one of you who took the time to audition and fill out a backstage crew application. We feel confident that we found the best role for each of you to make this show a success! If you were not cast where you had hoped- it doesn’t mean next time won’t be an entirely different story. Keep trying, keep working, and KEEP AUDITIONING!

Our first rehearsal will be Tuesday, September 3 at 3:15 in the auditorium. Please bring a pencil, snack, and water bottle. We'll complete a read through rehearsal until 5:30! A tentative rehearsal schedule for the next three weeks is below.

Enjoy your three day weekend! You deserve it! - Sincerely, Mrs. G, Grantz, & Ms. Lepore

"When a die-hard theatre fan plays his favorite cast album, the characters come to life in this hilarious musical farce.

Winner of five Tony Awards, including Best Book and Best Original Score, The Drowsy Chaperone is a loving send-up of the Golden Age musical, featuring one show-stopping song and dance number after another.

With the houselights down, a man in a chair appears on stage and puts on his favorite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical. The recording comes to life and The Drowsy Chaperone begins as the man in the chair looks on. Mix in two lovers on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a desperate theatre producer, a not-so-bright hostess, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan and an intoxicated chaperone, and you have the ingredients for an evening of madcap delight.

Hailed by New York Magazine as "The Perfect Broadway Musical," The Drowsy Chaperone is a masterful meta-musical, poking fun at all the tropes that characterize the musical theatre genre."  - from Music Theatre International
